As a hand model, I can’t have gel or acrylic nails. In my former life, I got my first set of acrylics at the age of 13. Airbrush designs were quite the rage back then. I eventually moved on to LCN french nails, before going back to my natural nails for good. By the time gel nails were the norm, I started hand modeling, so I never had the gel experience. I also never got on board the pointed nail trend.
For castings, and jobs where I have to get a manicure the day before work, I wear a natural, sheer light pink nail color. Some jobs have a manicurist on set, and those are my favorite jobs. But I like having painted nails, and I do my own nails 90 percent of the time. I went through a red nails era for many years, but I’ve been venturing out of my comfort zone, and trying new colors. One of my new favorites is Orly Lucid Dream, a gorgeous rose gold shimmer. It was very festive, and quite the hit at the holiday parties.
